UX WIREFRAMES

Complex online platforms and website structures visualized in a clear blueprint

A solid blueprint for your website sets your project up for success

When creating an online platform, e-commerce site or website with a lot of content and functionality, it’s hard to decide up front what the best layout and structure of the total website will be.

By starting with a wireframe design first, you can quickly find out if your initial plan/concept will actually work. Wireframes allow you to easily explore different directions, discover which are future-proof (scalable) and end up with the best user experience for your product or service.

Wireframes also cut developer time and meeting- and discussion time. Having a first blueprint saves hours of briefing and discussion between the Product Owner (or other team members) and developer (25×2), so you’ll easily earn back this initial investment.

Stay ahead of the competition by offering the best user experience (UX)

The structure and layout of your pages and elements form the foundation of your website. They define how ‘user friendly’ your website will be, which defines the success of your platform or site.

A good user experience is achieved by keeping a sharp focus on the goals and wishes of the customer/website visitor while contemplating how they will (want to) move through the website. Of course I also focus on reaching the business goals but my strong belief is that your business will benefit when users reach their goals.

Don’t skip out on UX

I’ve often seen projects quickly jump from rough concept to visual design. They exclude UX (interaction design, wireframes) from their project process because it seems faster and more fun and sexy to present visual designs than talk over wireframes.

But from the moment visuals are presented, team (and stakeholder) discussions are mainly about esthetics. The ‘user’ and usability have taken the back seat. Which could result in website visitors getting lost or feeling frustrated and lead to mediocre business results.

Wireframes on the other hand force a team to have a hard and critical look at what to place/tell/offer where so that the website visitor will reach his goal, experience value and will proceed taking the desired action (for example the purchase of a product).

The benefits of including UX wireframes to your project

  • You will easily get consensus within the team on the project goal and the way to approach it.
  • Wireframes prevent unforeseen, incorrect or dead-end scenarios popping up in later stages of development (for example: forgotten mobile designs or error-scenarios).
  • The focus on user experience will lead to a better conversion rate and financial growth.
  • It prevents unexpected expenses.
  • Wireframes cut developer time and meeting- and discussion time. Having a blueprint easily saves hours between the Product Owner and Developer (25×2) with it, which already earns back this initial investment.
