Your company keeps growing

You started with doing things yourself. Then you expanded to a small team. Now as both your business and team continue to expand, it becomes more and more important that your visual representation aligns with the growth and development of your brand.

A well-designed visual identity helps to establish your brand’s (now more mature/developed) personality and creates a cohesive look and feel. Investing in a professional design system ensures that your brand will be consistent across all of its touchpoints, from your website and business cards to marketing materials and product packaging.

Over the years you’ve also been making changes en tweaks in different areas of your webshop. And with a growing company, it’s getting harder and harder to maintain a consistent look-and-feel and user experience. To continue scaling up it’s time to invest in visual consistency and optimize the user experience, making it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for and complete transactions.

Unleash the potential of your products with stunning photography and webshop design

With our 30 day webshop make-over program Geertje (Customer experience director) and me, Bonny (UX specialist) will work for and with you to create a fresh and solid brand image that is in line with your present or aimed business stage. We create designs for a user-friendly webshop that will help you reach your business goals. It’s also our purpose to discover new and smart ways to position your products so you can generate more revenue with less effort. We’re the type of people that really become your partner and proactively get involved. We will meet and brainstorm with you to understand your wants and needs and create a customized plan for you in these 6 areas:

  1. Branding
  2. Product positioning
  3. Photography strategy (+ photoshoot done by Studio Letterie)
  4. User research
  5. Webshop UX & UI design
  6. Conversion rate optimisation

Bols Jenever UX freelance

We’re bringing sexy back

Bols Jenever hired us for 6 months to help them optimize their webshop and make their product (old fashioned genever) sexy again by entering the cocktail market.

We implemented a customer experience- and UX design strategy with an optimized online shopping experience and advised them to put way more emphasis on the ingredients, craftsmanship / mixology and the experience of drinking a cocktail in real life with friends or on a date.

Based on extensive research we came to the core principle of our strategy: the customer experience is not centered around the bottle itself but on the creative cocktails they can make with it and sharing them with others. This became a main guideline in our re-design process.

On the left side of the image you see the Homepage ‘before’ and dragging the line to the left side reveals how the webshop looks after their re-design. Bols clearly demonstrates the power of refreshing your product photography.

But it’s not just about looks

Our process is also aimed at understanding the overall customer experience from a high-level, bird’s eye perspective. The customer journey is a holistic experience, rather than a series of isolated interactions. We analyze customer feedback and other data to understand the customer journey from start to finish, including pre-purchase, the actual purchase, and post-purchase follow-up.

Our approach also identifies untapped business potential:

Areas for expansion or improvement that have yet to be realized or capitalized on. This can include new markets, product lines, distribution channels, automation or other technological advancements.

What you’ll get

1. Branding

A branding service helps your company establish a strong, consistent brand identity that sets you apart from competitors and resonates with your target audience. This leads to increased recognition, loyalty, and credibility, and drives business growth.

Our process:

  1. Research: to understand your company’s target audience, competitive landscape, and overall business goals to inform the branding strategy.
  2. Brand Development: creating a brand strategy that aligns with your company’s values and objectives. This may include re-defining the company’s mission, vision, and brand personality.
  3. Visual Identity: designing a logo (optional), color scheme, and typography that visually represents the brand.
  4. Brand Guidelines: Creating a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure consistency across all marketing materials, including packaging, advertising, and digital media.

What you’ll get

A comprehensive brandbook that sets the guidelines for you to establish a unique and consistent brand identity. The outcome differs per project, depending on your brand maturity, business stage and needs. This can include elements such as a logo, color scheme, typography and photography guidelines.

2. Product positioning

Through product positioning we’re creating an image of your product in the minds of your consumers, relative to competing products. The goal of product positioning is to establish a unique and distinctive place for you in the market, and to make your product appealing and relevant to your target consumers.

Our process:

  1. Market analysis: Understanding the market and customer needs, as well as the competitive landscape.
  2. Product Analysis: Evaluating the product’s unique selling points and differentiating factors.
  3. Value Proposition Development: Developing a clear, concise, and compelling message that communicates your product’s value proposition.
  4. Positioning Statement: We create a positioning statement that defines your target market, your product’s unique benefits, and your target market’s pain points.
  5. Marketing Communication Guidelines: We define the guidelines for the marketing materials and communications so they align with your product’s positioning statement and effectively communicate its value proposition.

What you’ll get

Positioning strategy document that describes how to place your brand or product in the market in such a way that it appeals to the target audience(s) and distinguishes itself from the competition. A marketing communications guideline document and a set of 10 (static) marketing and advertising materials that match the new positioning strategy. Depending on the strategy this ranges from Instagram ads, banners etc. to offline materials. You also receive the design templates so your team can easily create new consistent marketing materials.

3. Photography strategy (+ photoshoot)

A product photography strategy helps you create a consistent visual aesthetic and ensures that your products are presented in the best possible light (literally). Having visually appealing and consistent product images that reinforce your identity leads to increased brand recognition, credibility, and customer engagement.

Our process:

  1. Alignment with the brand Analysis: In service 1 (Branding) we defined your company’s brand identity. In this phase we will apply the visual identity guidelines to the product photography and create different concepts. The chosen direction will serve as the briefing for the photostudio.
  2. Photoshoot Planning: Together with the photostudio we select the appropriate lighting, equipment, and location to create images that align with your brand’s visual aesthetic.
  3. Photoshoot Execution: A full day of capturing high-quality product images that accurately represent your product and its features.
  4. Image Editing: Enhancing the images to ensure that they are visually appealing and consistent with the company’s overall brand aesthetic.
  5. Integration with Marketing Materials: Incorporating the product images into marketing materials such as brochures, websites, and social media posts to reinforce the brand’s messaging and visual identity.

What you’ll get:

Photography guidelines document. Professional photos and image editing of 50 products (if you need more photos there’s a surcharge of €125,- per hour ex VAT). Image editing and lighting settings templates in Photoshop. The new images incorporated into the 8 marketing and advertising materials mentioned in service 2 (Product positioning).

Optional:

You can also book a photoshoot to create brand images. This comes with an additional starting price of €2400,- ex VAT.

4. User research

In this phase we dive into the webshop experience. By doing user research we will gain insights into your current audience’s needs, behaviors, motivations, and pain points. It helps us to improve the user experience by making data-driven decisions when re-designing the webshop.

Our process:

  1. Google Analytics Data: We scan your webshop’s Google Analytics data to uncover opportunities for optimization and improvement. We review data focussed on user behavior and conversion rates, to identify areas that can be improved.
  2. Screen Recordings: we enable a tracking tool (like Smartlook or Hotjar) so we can see what visitors actually do on your webshop. We track mouse movements and clicks to identify behavior patterns and understand any difficulties they are facing.
  3. Recommendations for design and development: using the insights gained from the research we write a list of recommendations that will function as design guidelines during the UX & UI design phase.

    What you’ll get

All the User research insights will be bundled into a UX guidelines report with tips to improve the user experience of your website or webshop and increase your conversion rate. The report presents both “quick-wins,” which are simple to implement, and opportunities which may require more effort but have the potential to significantly increase conversion rates. The report also includes visual examples, guidelines, general advice, and rough wireframe concepts to make our next steps more concrete.

    5. UX & UI design

We are long-time experts in User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design. UX design ensures that your webshop has a clear, intuitive and user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate. UI design complements the UX strategy and provides you with a visually appealing website.

    Our process:

    1. Wireframing: Creating rough sketches or wireframes to outline the structure and layout of the website or application for both mobile and desktop.
    2. Prototyping: We create interactive prototypes so you can experience the user flow for yourself and test the usability and functionality of the design with others.
    3. User Interface design: Creating the final visual design, including the color palette, typography, and other elements that we’ve established as your company’s branding in the user interface.

    What you’ll get:

New UI designs for the 10 most important pages (templates), features and design states of your webshop optimized for both mobile and desktop devices. We also turn these into a mobile and desktop prototype. Our team will use Figma to create a design system and prototype, which allows for streamlining future design changes or iterations in the style guide. The designs can be effortlessly implemented by your development team.

Note that implementation of the design into the website is not included in this trajectory.

    6. Conversion rate optimisation

The ultimate goal of the conversion rate optimisation (CRO) service is to help you increase your conversion rate and improve the performance of your webshop, resulting in increased revenue and a better return on investment.

    Our process:
    1. Hypothesis generation: based on the insights of the user research we discovered potential areas for improvement. Now we will define hypotheses about how changes to the website could increase the conversion rate.
    2. Optimise website elements: such as call-to-actions, forms, and landing pages to encourage conversions.
    3. SEO BONUS: high-over content Optimization: we optimise the main content for search engines and include relevant keywords and meta tags.

      What you’ll get:

The CRO process is an ongoing cycle of analysis, testing, and optimization. We deliver guidelines, recommendations, A/B test designs and a plan on how to continuously improve your webshop’s performance and increase conversions. In the UX & UI design we apply all the relevant best practices that relate to our insights.

Positioning high quality tulips on the market

You can buy a bouquet of 20 tulips in the supermarket for €10,-.

So how do you make people pay €25,- for yours?

BOLT Amsterdam sells high quality tulips with unique petal shapes, with the bulb still attached. The bulb contains lots of nutrition and will make the flower last much longer.

These USP’s were not highlighted enough. So we created a luxury brand identity through design and photography and eye-catching packaging to complete the buyer experience. This attracted consumers willing to pay a premium price.

And by focussing way more on the act of ‘giving flowers to someone’ we optimized the customer experience strategy by adding features like ‘customized gift wrapping’ and ‘adding a card.’ By Mother’s day the redesign was live and they quickly sold out before the end of the season.

We dive deep in brainstorming sessions

Raevels and UXstudio.online have been business partners for years. Over the past 15 years Geertje worked with tons of local, national and international enterprises and start-ups, while Bonny worked for national (de Bijenkorf) and international online retail brands. We know the struggles and successes of both the start-ups and scale-ups and ’the big guys’. We learned all the best practices and know how to make them work for growing businesses.

      You’re part of the team

Over the years we have experienced how valuable it is to regularly meet and brainstorm with other professionals. So when you embark on this adventure with us we want you to participate as much as you can. Because by talking and sharing ideas, new business propositions will arise.

We would like to meet at least 3 times in person but preferably more. We operate from Geertje’s inspiring co-work location and would love to brainstorm there with you in Hoorn, Noord-Holland. We also would love to visit your office to get a real understanding of how you operate and where we can help you improve.

We create a customized plan, depending on your (business) needs. Don’t hesitate to set up a free Zoom session with us. We won’t lure you into any obligation and are always eager to chat about business and provide advice and insights.

Projects start from €45.000,- excl. VAT

      G-Star RAW UX freelancer

      Re-designing the e-Commerce shop

G-Star hired us as a UX & UI design duo to re-design their webshop and establish a tight partnership with the conversion team. With an increasing number of customers using mobile devices to shop online, optimizing the mobile shopping experience became a crucial challenge. The task at hand was to implement fresh (mobile-first) design elements while preserving consistency across the website and the company’s various departments.

Over the course of a year we continuously contributed to improve the conversion rate. We delivered numerous designs for various A/B tests and the successful ones were instantly implemented on the website.

      Some final details

How much time do you need to spend?

We require a minimum of 5 full work days to meet and work with you, or another designated point of contact. Aside from that you can be as involved as you want. During the trajectory we will regularly get in touch with you to ask questions, brainstorm, present insights and make decisions. There’s a spot for you to work with us in-person at Geertje’s co-work office Het WerkLokaal  (located at Hoorn, Noord-Holland). Any team member is more than welcome to attend the meetings online. It’s up to you who you want to include.

Keep in mind that if certain people need to review the work or sign off, they will need to make some time for that in their agendas too.

How many days is this program exactly?

It’s a 30-day program, but we spread the tasks and activites out over 60 to 90 days. We plan things as efficiently as possible but there will be times that we for example have to wait for the photos to be handed over to us before we can continue with the designs. Or maybe you’re experiencing some delay in the internal sign-off process in your company. So realistically our collaboration could last for 90 days.

To ensure deadlines are met, we make an agreement with you at the start of the project. We know from experience where the bottlenecks are so we share a timeline that shows when you should start creating content with your team or when certain copy needs to be finalized and delivered to us. When unexpected delays pop-up we discuss the way to move forward. We anticipate that you will make accommodations for your company’s decision-making process. Make sure people have enough time to attend review and sign off meetings if necessary.

During the program we are fully focussed on you. Every 3 months our company accepts a new workload, which means if the activities stretch beyond 90 days due to delays on your side, our schedule to work with you will be more irregular.

Are there any guarantees for results?

At the start of the project we define success metrics together, related to the make-over. We guarantee a positive effect. We can’t predict the level of impact but after implementing the designs (and even just by showing it to people) you will experience an uplift in positive feedback and conversion.

We know ‘achieving results’ is an important and delicate topic. That’s why we include an aftercare plan. After we’ve delivered all the documents, materials and designs we schedule 3 aftercare calls on the dates of your choice. We recommend to schedule the first call 1-3 months after webshop designs have gone live or after a campaign has ended. This way we can continuously advise you.

We will ongoingly collaborate with you untill you’ve reached an uplift in the defined metrics (for instance your sales or conversions). We’re team players. We value open communication and collaboration. If you follow our guidelines and don’t see results after 3-6 months of implementation, we will continue advising you for free. And if we believe that visual adjustments are necessary to reach the desired metrics, we will for instance provide you with new banner designs at no additional cost.

      What happens after the program?

Our after-care can last for a whole year. We keep monitoring the results and adjust, tweak and optimize the website where needed.

      What's not included?

Keep in mind that there are additional costs like: marketing budget, print costs and for the web development / implementation of the designs
